Any Norwood resident will likely declare that no town celebrates like Norwood...and during the holiday season, this Town puts a whole new meaning to decking the halls! Events for the kids, check; celebrations for families, check; activities for adults, check; there is even an opportunity for the family pet to celebrate!
So, pull out the family schedule, and secure some time to stop and smell the candy canes this Holiday Season with family and friends this month!
December 2
Gingerbread Fair
First Baptist Church, 71 Bond St.
9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Stop by the Annual Gingerbread Fair! The many tables include, White Elephant, Jewelry, Silent Auction, Handcrafted items, Christmas, Cookie Walk, Gingerbread kits that children can take home to decorate, a Christmas tree filled with ornaments, a book room, and new this year, the Mercantile Table. Lunch will also be served featuring hamburgers, hotdogs, homemade soup and homemade pizza and drinks.

Norwood Art Association Annual Holiday Sale & Show
Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 24 Berwick St.
10 a.m.-3 p.m.
There will be original oil, watercolor, and acrylic paintings, and photographs for purchase, as well as food, hot coffee and beverages. Raffles will include original artwork, a gift basket, and items generously donated by local businesses. Admission is free to the public. Norwood Holiday House Tour
Norwood Town Hall, Memorial Hall

The 2017 Norwood Holiday House Tour, sponsored by the Norwood Historical Society, will be featuring four of Norwood's beautifully decorated homes, plus Norwood's Town gem, the Day House. The afternoon concludes with a reception at the Norwood VFW, 193 Dean St. Tickets are $20 per person in advance, at Elisbeth's Custom Drapery, 95 Central St., online at, or the day of the event for $25. All of the day's proceeds go towards restoration of the Day House.

VFW New Year's Eve Party
193 Dean St.
7 p.m.-1 a.m.
The evening will include a prime rib dinner with all the fixings, party favors, a 50/50 Raffle and a champagne toast to welcome in the New Year. Music will be provided by D.J. Bob Harkins. Cost is $30 per person. A van for a ride home will also be available. The deadline to purchase tickets is December 26. Tickets can be obtained at the VFW Post, 193 Dean St., Norwood. For more information, call 781-762-6910. The celebration is open to the public. The Post will be open on New Year’s Day from 12 Noon for the football games.

Luminary Night
Town Common
5 p.m.
For the past 15 years, luminaries have lit up the Town Common walkways in remembrance of their lost loves ones and in support of their neighbors who are battling a medical tragedy. The luminary bags are engraved with an individual name, message, prayer or date as a symbol of Life, Hope, the Season or in Remembrance of others. Luminary bags are $5 each and can be purchased from the Norwood Civic Center, Nahatan St., or any foundation board member, by calling 781-762-3549, mailing your check and message to, The Circle of Hope Foundation, 24 Myrtle Street, Norwood MA 02062, or in person the night of the event.

Holiday Cookie Decorating
3:30-4:30 p.m.
4:30-5:30 p.m.
Children 3-10 years old will spend a fun hour frosting and decorating holiday sugar cookies! All materials will be provided. Cost is $10 per person. Sign up at the Civic Center.

Pet Photos with Santa
Dirty Dawg Wash

11 a.m.-3 p.m.
For a $10 donation, receive a 4 x 6 holiday memento and also digital copies for future use. Dog nail trimming will also be available for $10. All proceeds from the pet photos will benefit Massachusetts Vest-a-Dog, a non-profit organization that supports Massachusetts Police Dogs.

Holiday Pops Concert
First Congregational Church, 100 Winter St.
4 p.m.
Donation is $15; $10 for seniors and students; and free for children under 12 years old. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. Light refreshments and free parking are included. Children 3-10 years old will decorate their own gingerbread house with all the fixings! All materials will be provided. Cost is $10 for residents, $15 for non residents. Sign up at the Civic Center.

Breakfast with Santa
Norwood Civic Center
9-11 a.m.
Santa will be making a special appearance in Norwood this year! Enjoy a pancake breakfast, join in sing-a-longs, make some crafts, and of course, bring your camera to commemorate a visit with Santa! For all ages. Cost is $7 per child (ages 16 and under), and $5 per adult.

Christmas Ornament Workshop

Children 6-10 years old will create colorful ornaments out of a variety of materials to decorate their own tree at home. Cost is $15 for residents, $20 for non residents. Sign up at the Civic Center.
